“In joy or sadness flowers are our constant friends.”
– Kakuzõ Okakura, The Book Of Tea
Ultimately, if you want to cheer someone up or further enhance an already positive feeling…or take a moment from “neutral” to “elevated”…flowers are always an excellent option.
You may have heard of chocolate too…but flowers are never on someone’s “dietary restrictions” and neither do they cause issues with body image so why take the risk on the strengths of chocolate’s well acknowledged dopamine alone.
No, a gift of only chocolate is a limping present at best. Flowers will always fill a space with their immense presence and influence in the most enlightening of ways. A friend is a beautiful person to have. To say a flower is our friend is of course to personify said flower, but this does not mean they are not bursting with a positive sense and that they do not promote our well being…quite the contrary! So enjoy the moment, and smell the roses.
