The Rose History and Colors

safe_imageWith the February 14th coming up people start to plan and think about the perfect way to surprise their lovers. In that matter most preferred flower is the Rose! So let us tell you the story of the queen of flowers and some of it meanings by color.

The roses have a long history and are considered to be 35 million years old. In its natural habitat it has 150 different species spread over the world. The cultivation of this flower plant began around 5,000 years ago in China. In the Middle East during the Roman period roses were extremely popular and were used as decorations and confetti at celebrations, they also found wide use for medical purposes and perfume ingredient. During the 15th century the expression “War of the Roses” was born as a symbol of both York (white rose) and Lanchester (red rose) which were leading dynastic wars for the throne of England. Later on in the 1800’s Napoleon’s wife Josephine planted a major collection of roses in the suburbs of Paris. Later that garden was the setting for the work of a botanical illustrator, which he completed 25 years later and it is still considered one of the finest. A century later cultivated roses became significant part of people’s homes and it has remained until nowadays. And everybody knows that rose bushes are one excellent choice for every gardener who wants the greatest and sweetest color in it’s yard.

There are an extensive choice of colors for you to choose within roses. We have the Red which is passion and love and the White with it’s purity and innocence, both together combined despite the story of resentment between York and Lanchester are symbol of unity. The purely Yellow rose is the emblem of friendship and joy, but the Yellow rose with Red tip is a friendship growing into love. Pink roses are the sweetness of grace and sympathy. The Lavender colored roses is the one for love of first sight. With their multiple colors and long history of bringing love and joy into this world hopefully we will have them for many more years, so we can always have one more rose to bring us closer.
