There comes a time – well, several times, actually, when we will enter the threshold of someone else’s abode. It may a friend’s home, a relative’s, a business associate…it could be anyone. Yet there are things that remain the same no matter who it is. Our eyes, depending on who we are, will take in the new environment, will absorb the surroundings to varied degrees. Glazing over everything, certain judgements may form, some of them unbeknownst to our conscience, either way, out comes “what a lovely home you have” or “your home is beautiful”…sometimes even when the establishment did not pass whatever test we put it through.
Yes, we were judging all along. Perhaps you attempted to extinguish this immediate reaction, but there was the feeling, the sense instilled within you, this unavoidable idea of the place you are newly acquainted with. You could not escape your perception, and that is one of the things we should first acknowledge in determining why decor and ornamentation within our surroundings for all sorts of moments whether it be the very homes we inhabit or for weddings, birthdays, holidays, or dinners.
Take a moment to be more aware of the latent effect you experience when entering a room that is well taken care of or vice versa, upon realizing this “energy”, it becomes more and more evident what certain “small” things can do, such as including fragrant flowers into your space. In fact, the difference is great.
